Reporting to the Senior Vice President, North American Development, the incumbent will be responsible, accountable and have authority for the financial and administrative affairs for the United States Development Group within Brookfield Power.

More specifically, the Controller will have the following responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly financial statements;
• Prepare forecasts, budgets, and financial management reports;
• Prepare and manage capital and expense expenditure plans and report variances;
• Evaluate financial performance, analyze economic factors and monitor annual budget;
• Implement and monitor internal control policies and procedures;
• Provide management oversight over assets and expenses;
• Support the North American Development organization in various related activities;
• Set up financial chart of accounts, financial reporting, and other related management reports for new projects that are approved to proceed;
• Work with construction group and operations to ensure smooth transition from development to operations.

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance with approximately 5 years of relevant experience;
• Recognized accounting designation (CPA) preferred;
• Management experience in finance and knowledge of principles and practices of financial management and business administration;
• Strong team and leadership skills, discretion and judgment;
• Ability to deal comfortably with a fast-moving environment; open minded and flexibility in adapting to change;
• Quality and detail oriented and able to meet tight deadlines;
• Excellent team player; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
