Description: The Vice President
and Chief Information Officer (CIO) will report directly
to the President and Co-Chief Executive Officer (Co-CEO)
of Brookfield Power Corporation (BPC).
As a member of the
senior management team of BPC, the CIO will work closely
with the President and Co-CEO and provide
leadership for the Company in the area of information technology
(IT). The CIO will develop the corporate information technology
strategy, assess and uncover opportunities for improvement
in the current IT platform and architecture, identify relevant
new IT and determine applicability to the organization’s
long-term needs. The CIO will oversee corporate IT policies
and procedures, technical standards, and assist in managing
priorities. The incumbent will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop an IT strategic plan aligned with Brookfield
Power’s business strategy;
- Chair and provide direction to the Brookfield Power IT
Steering Committee;
- Accountable for designing and implementing systems and
data architecture aligned with Brookfield Power goals and
business needs;
- Responsible for the Corporate Information systems;
- Responsible for all IT Disaster Recovery programs to ensure
business continuity;
- Assess the potential and relevance of emerging technologies
to enhance the IT platform and architecture in place in
Brookfield Power and to better meet the organization’s
evolving business requirements;
- Identify and assess opportunities for improvement in the
current IT structure, standards, practices and processes,
and provide direction to operational teams in developing
implementation strategies;
- Accountable for developing an IT framework for Brookfield
Power, including policies and standards, and ensuring that
it meets the needs of the business and its regulatory requirements;
- Provide direction in the development of Brookfield Power’s
IT security framework to ensure compliance with financial,
regulatory and industry requirements;
- Lead IT due diligence efforts in mergers and acquisitions
processes.
Candidate profile – Experience and
qualifications
- Degree in computer science, computer engineering, information
technology or related field. Master’s degree preferred
but not required;
- Preferably 10+ years of experience in an information technology
environment with 4+ years as the head of IT/CIO role, preferably
with an energy company or in a high growth business;
- Strong business acumen and demonstrated experience in providing
strategic contribution to business results and implementing
process improvements enterprise-wide;
- Solid experience in working with executives and presenting
strategies at the board of director level;
- A track record of establishing and maintaining relevant
industry relationships with third party service providers
and hardware/software providers is a plus;
- Experience in managing large, complex IT environments and
infrastructures;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast pace environment and
to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
- Ability to effect and manage change positively;
- Strong leadership skills; ability to provide direction
and influence others to gain buy-in and support for implementation;
- Strong communication skills (oral and written).
