PROJECT MANAGER, WIND DEVELOPMENT

Description:

This position offers the opportunity to play an integral role in the development of a dynamic company in a high growth industry. Reporting to the Director, Wind Development, the selected candidate will be required to lead permitting, stakeholder consultation and environmental assessment activities as well as coordinating with engineering firms through origination and pre-feasibility phases in various Canadian provinces.

More specifically, the Project Manager, Wind Development will have the following responsibilities:

  • Coordinate permitting activities (municipal, environmental) for wind projects;
  • Interface with landowners and regulatory agencies for leases and land use applications;
  • Plan and coordinate all stakeholder communications including municipal, public and First Nations consultation activities;
  • Direct environmental consultants and specialists through preliminary risk assessments, baseline studies, preparation of terms and reference and environmental assessment of wind projects;
  • Coordinate consultants and contractors for installation of meteorological test towers, geotechnical studies, surveys and other investigative activities;
  • Other development activities as required.


Candidate profile – Experience and qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in energy industry markets;
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business or Environmental Sciences;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage outsourced resources;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with provincial regulations, processes and agencies related to permitting of power projects;
  • Working knowledge of wind project building blocks and development process;
  • Ability to resolve differences and quickly address issues;
  • Demonstrated skills in project /case management and working on project teams;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and leadership;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Highly self-motivated and ability to work independently;
  • Willingness to travel in Canada.
