Description: Reporting
to the Short Term Trader for the New England market, the
incumbent’s responsibilities will be to coordinate
and schedule all energy related products. The Scheduler will
interact with Brookfield’s Operators, Real Time Traders,
Independent System Operators, Transmissions Providers and
trading counterparts to ensure the accurate and timely delivery
of such products.
More specifically, the Scheduler will have
the following responsibilities:
- Under the directive of the Short Term Trader, prepare
and validate a daily generation schedule by taking into
consideration market information and transmission related
constraints;
- Following the Daily Meeting with Operators, submit and
validate bids for all energy related products with the
help of a bidding tool;
- On a daily basis, coordinate and schedule all physical
power, ancillary services, capacity, physical transmission
with control areas or trading counterparts;
- Keep track of trading positions, both financial and physical;
- Help with risk management associated with physical deliveries
and transmission from, to or across Ontario, Quebec, New
England and New York;
- Coordinate with the Short Term Planner the communication
of information on transmission and transactions associated
with power plants.
Candidate profile – Experience and
qualifications
- Working knowledge of current and pending rules and issues
within the administered markets;
- Thorough knowledge of electric power generation and transmission
systems;
- Previous experience in scheduling, real-time trading, operations
or another area in which strong analytical and relationship
skills have been developed is preferred;
- Basic knowledge of internal and external scheduling systems
such as OASIS and OATI;
- Knowledge of the assets certification process (ICAP/UCAP
and GADS) in the market;
- Teamwork and ability to communicate are critical;
- Must be highly accurate and detail oriented;
English is essential and working knowledge of French is
an asset.
