COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST – U.S. OPERATIONS

Description:
Reporting to the Director, Communications & Community Relations
for US Operations and part of a team of professionals, the successful
candidate is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation
of communications strategies targeted toward both internal and external
audiences. Responsibilities will include the oversight of day-to-day
communication activities including: development, layout and maintenance
of announcements, presentations, and promotional materials, as well
as monitoring of media coverage of Brookfield Power in the United
States. Creating and maintaining a document management system and
responding to inquiries for information contained therein;
Main Areas of Responsibility
- Research, write and edit a variety of internal and external
documents including announcements, advertisements/public notices,
press releases, speeches and presentations;
- Provide writing support for Human
Resources, Finance, other US Operations departments, and Project
Development for clarity, format and consistency of messaging;
- Help create program content for
community meetings, government briefings, plant tours and other
stakeholder events;
- Edit and maintain media kits, photo
file, database of media coverage;
- Support Internet and Intranet content
development and maintenance.
Candidate profile – Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or marketing
and a minimum of two years of related communications experience;
- Technologically proficient – ability to understand and work
in different software applications and data bases (Microsoft, Lotus
Notes, HTML software, desktop publishing, etc.);
- Strong persuasive written,
oral and interpersonal communication skills required; graphic and
lay-out skills a plus;
- Ability to work independently
with minimum supervision;
- Ability to travel.
