We set very high standards to minimize risks and each of our
employees has a role to play in achieving our targets.
The foundation of our commitment to health and safety is
a comprehensive health and safety program that includes annual
targets, objectives and structured action plans. But it doesn’t
end there. We work with our employees and the public to continually
improve the health and safety performance of our operations.
In terms of public safety programs, we are especially proud
of the Caution and Chance School Program,
developed jointly with the PUC Inc. in Sault Ste. Marie. This
program annually provides elementary school students with
an overview of electrical hazards and the barriers that will
ensure the hazards are controlled or eliminated. For more

We are also proud of the track record established by our
dedicated employees and the public recognition received for
our health and safety initiatives and performance. In 2002,
Lievre River Power was presented with the Gold Award for excellent
safety performance in recognition of their standing in the
top quartile of the industry for the past three consecutive
years. This is on top of their seven-year record without an
accident.
Health and safety is a priority at Brookfield Power. It is part
