Distribution

In addition to our high quality generating facilities, Brookfield Power owns a transmission and distribution business in northern Ontario interconnected with the Ontario power grid and is comprised of 550 kilometres of transmission lines, 1,830 kilometres of distribution lines, and a direct customer base of over 11,000.

We have other transmission assets which include an interconnection between Ontario and Quebec and a proposed transmission line between Ontario and Michigan.

In April 2004 we announced plans to proceed with a C$85 million investment to upgrade our transmission lines in Northern Ontario. This initiative will increase the overall reliability and power flow capacity of a portion of the provincial transmission system in Northern Ontario.
